Copyright © Janet Nogle 2017
Materials: 1
skein of cotton yarn.
#6
US Knitting Needles
Notes:
B = border stitch of 2 knit stitch on each side.
There are rows where you will have
more stitches on your needle. I have
added the number of stitches you should have on those rows.
Cast on: Multiple
of 2 (18 + 4 = 22 stitches)
Border:
Row 1: Knit across.
Row 2: Knit across.
Pattern:
Row 1: B2, P18, B2.
Row 2: B2, *K1, (K1, P1, K1) in next stitch;
Rep from * across, end B2. (40 sts)
Row 3: B2, *K3, P1; repeat from *, end B2.
Row 4: B2, *K1, P3Tog; repeat from *; end B2
(22 sts).
Row 5: B2, P18, B2.
Row 6: B2, *(K1, P1, K1) in next stitch, K1;
repeat from *, end B2, (40 sts)
Row 7: B2, *P1, K3; repeat from *; end B2.
Row 8: B2, *P3Tog, K1; repeat from *, B2. (22
sts).
Repeat
rows 1-8 till desired length (I worked rows 1-8 two more times and rows 1-5 one
more time.
Border:
Row 1: Knit across
Row 2: Knit across
Bind
off, weave in ends.
This
makes a thicker item and you could use either side for show. I would work a dishcloth for no more than 34
stitches because of its consistency. It is a multiple of 2 stitches, so you
could make almost anything from this stitch.
