January 2019 Swatch - Promise in Color

This is a swatch that you can use variegated yarn in if you like. This original design was done for our friends at Peaches N Creme before they sold their business. There was a fantastic individual that we worked with and she shared yarns with us and treated our group very well.

Materials: You can use a variegated yarn on this design if you like. I used a Pink/White variegated yarn. One skein of cotton yarn and a size #6 or #7 US needle.

Cast On:  26

Border:

Row 1:           K1, P1 across.

Row 2:           P1, K1 across.

Pattern:

Row 1:           (RS) K1, P1, K22, P1, K1.

Row 2:           (WS) K1, P1, P22, P1, K1.

Row 3:           K1, P1, *(P2Tog) x2, (YO, K1) x3, P2Tog, YO, P2Tog; repeat from *, P1, K1.

Row 4:           K1, P1, P33, P1, K1.

Repeat rows 1-4 till desired length, I repeated 7 more times.

Border:

Row 1:           K1, P1 across.

Row 2:           P1, K1 across.

Bind off in pattern.

Weave in ends.

December 2018 Swatch - Christmas Tree Coaster and Bonus Christmas Cloth

Here is a swatch and a dishcloth to close out the year. The coaster is one I added to our site last December but because of all the new members I thought I would present it again. The cloth is called Pine Trees In Lace.  You can decide if you want to knit a picture swatch or a lace cloth or do both.

 December Christmas Cloth - Pine Trees in Lace

This isn’t a difficult pattern, but it does require you paying close attention.  By that I mean, you will do Purl stitches and the next direction will be to YO K1.  After the Purl stitch you can just leave the yarn where it is because it is already in the “YO” position.  When doing the S2KP stitch unless it says YO, make sure you have your yarn in the back of your work because this is a knitted stitch.  You should always have 37 stitches at the end of the row, if you have 34 or 35, you probably failed to put the yarn in the back prior to doing a S2KP.   Just pay attention to your instructions. 

This was originally a large swatch for December in 2017. I have converted to a KAL for 2018 by adding a few more stitches for the border.

Knitted in a multiple of 18 sts, + 11 and a 16-row repeat.

Cast on:  37 stitches (18 + 11 = 29+8 Border=37)

Materials:  I used a skein of red yarn. #7 US Needle

Row 1 & 2:       Knit across

Row 1 - right side: B4, K1, * yo, p3, S2KP, p3, yo, k9; rep from * to last 12 sts, yo, p3, S2KP, p3, yo, k1, B4.
Row 2 and all wrong side rows: B4, P29, B4.
Row 3: B4, K1, * k1, yo, p2, S2KP, p2, yo, k10; rep from * to last 12 sts, k1, yo, p2, S2KP, p2, yo, k2, B4.
Row 5: B4, K1, * k2, yo, p1, S2KP, p1, yo, k11; rep from * to last 12 sts, k2, yo, p1, S2KP, p1, yo, k3, B4.
